FAQs

General Information

Employment Dates – Typically, candidates will need to be available to start work from December 1st, with varying finish dates between February 28th and March 31st depending on the position.

Accommodation – We guarantee staff accommodation for all positions, and at a very competitive rate. Rooms are typically a two-man share, with shared bathrooms, laundry and basic kitchen facilities. 24-hour access is also available to our on-site staff onsens and common rooms. Fresh linen is laundered and provided on a weekly basis. Most of our accommodation was built in the last two years, and so is in top condition.

Transport – We provide access to a free shuttle bus that runs between our staff accommodation, Niseko Village, Grand Hirafu and Kutchan on a very regular basis, throughout the day and evening.

Food – We provide access to a staff canteen in resort, which is available 7 days a week, for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Meals are only 300 yen and are deducted from your paycheck. Groceries can also be bought from the supermarkets in Kutchan.

Uniform – Provided free of charge to all staff, for use only during work hours. Which items you receive will depend on your position. Instructors will receive a shell jacket and pants and a fleece, indoor positions will receive a suitable outer layer. Base layers, hats, gloves, goggles, skis/snowboard and footwear must be self-supplied.

Wages – You will be paid an hourly wage, which will be paid monthly in to a Japanese bank account that we will set up for you. Pay periods run from the 1st to the end of the month, and payment is received on the 15th of the following month. This means you must have access to enough funds to live comfortably for the first 6 weeks of the season. Income tax will automatically be deducted from your pay.

Language – With our mixture of Japanese and international staff, working at Niseko Village is the perfect opportunity to learn some Japanese! Although you will not be required to speak Japanese for your job, we encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity. The Japanese will really appreciate your efforts to embrace their culture, and are incredibly encouraging. We recommend attending a basic language course before you arrive.

Health and Travel Insurance – All staff are required to present proof of travel insurance upon arrival. You will be covered by Company Liability while working (subject to review), but outside of work you will not be covered (including when you are free-skiing/riding).

International Drivers Permit – If you plan on buying or renting a car while you are in Niseko, you will need an International Drivers Permit. These can only be applied for while in your home country, and must be used in conjunction with your regular license.
